Glenelg - Adelaide

Sunday 23rd – Wednesday 26th November

We arrived at Glenelg in Adelaide today. We are staying at Adelaide Shores caravan park.

This is a really nice park especially for the kids, there is plenty to do here.
They have two jumping pillows, games room and two pools which are heated.
The weather has been very windy.

On Monday we went into Glenelg and walked around the beach area and shops. Today is a nice day and the wind has gone.

On Tuesday we went for a drive to Port Adelaide, we did not like Port Adelaide very much.

We went to the Adelaide Oval and walked around the oval.

Adelaide

Thursday 20th –Sunday 23rd November

We arrived in Adelaide today, we are staying at a caravan park which is within walking distance to the city of Adelaide.

We went to see the new James Bond movie this afternoon. Is was the opening day, and it was very quiet.

On Friday we went for a walk to the botanical gardens and then to the city of Adelaide. We walked the to Market which sells fresh fruit and vegetables.

It is nice and quiet driving around the city of Adelaide, not busy like Melbourne. It is just like you are driving around Werribee.

Barossa Valley - Tanunda

Tuesday 18th November

We arrived at the Barossa Valley today, we are staying at Tanunda Caravan Park. The country side is really pretty here.

Wednesday 19th November

We went for a drive today along the tourist route. We went to the Saltram Winery and bought myself a few bottles of red wine and David got himself some Pepperjack beer.

They have about 64 wineries in this area, so if you love your wine this is the place for you.

You see vineyards just everywhere you drive in Barossa and Clare Valley. They just go for miles.

Thursday 20th November

We left Barossa Valley today, we are going to Adelaide. We drove to a place called Williamstown, on our way the roads were blocked as there was a car rally on so we had to go on long detour. We drove along some of the hilliest and windy roads with the caravan.

We finally arrived in Adelaide and are staying a caravan park which is close to the city.

Clare Valley - Tanunda

Sunday 16th November – Monday 17th November

We left Minlaton this morning, and we drove to Clare Valley.
We are staying here for a few nights.

On Monday we went for a drive around the Clare Valley area, it is a very picturesque area.

We went to a place called Mintaro which is home to a living maze. The goal being to reach the centre and then find your way back out again.

Afterwards we went to Martindale Hall. It was built in 1879. It was used in the film Picnic at Hanging Rock as the girls boarding school. Martindale Hall’s white room was Miranda’s room in the movie.

You were not allowed to take photos of the inside of the house.

It was just beautiful inside and the workman ship that went in to it is something you don’t see today. It reminded us a lot of the Werribee Mansion.

Minlaton

Saturday 15th November

On Saturday we had a big day of driving. We followed the coast of the Southern Yorke Peninsula. We drove around the Innes National Park.

We arrived back in Minlaton late in the afternoon and we went to Bill and Heather’s house for dinner. Heather cooked us a beautiful meal with dessert.
We had a wonderful night.

Minlaton

Friday 14th November

This morning we left Port Augusta. We have decided to stay at a place called Minlaton tonight.

We stopped at Port Pirie, Crystal Brook, Snowtown along the way. We then drove to Moonta Bay and stopped at Port Hughes and had some lunch.

We arrived at Minlaton in the afternoon. It had been a long drive as we stopped a bit along the way.

We needed to go to get some groceries so we went up to the supermarket. Whilst we were there I ran into my cousin Bill and Heather. It was such a surprise as we did not know they were living there. They were so surprised to see us.

We ended up going over to their house for a barbecue dinner. Their daughters, partners and children also came. We had a great time catching up.

Arrived at Port Augusta today. We went for a walk to the post office to collect our mail. The post office was further than we thought, it took us a few hours to get back to the caravan. It was a hot day today.

Thursday 13th November

We didn’t do too much today, we just did some grocery shopping and had a quiet day.

We didn't even take any photos when we were here.
