Wednesday 7th ~ Friday 9th May
We are staying here for a few days as we are waiting for some mail to arrive from home. The caravan park we are staying at is called Burra Caravan Park.
We are staying along side a river so the kids have been feeding the ducks. The ducks actually come out of the water for a feed.
It is a really nice place Burra. The buildings and houses are still very old, nothing has been changed to look modern.
They have a tour of Burra that you can do at your leisure which they give you a key at the Tourist Information Centre. Firstly we visited an old Brewery Cellar which was just across from the caravan park, it was really interesting. We then visited an old Mine site, and some miner’s dugouts.
After that we went to an old Police Lock up and Stables, and the Redruth Gaol which then became a girls reform centre. It was really sad reading about how the young girls were treated. People were put in jail for really petty crimes, like stealing bread, misbehaving, or one man was put in jail for leaving his wife and children.
On Thursday we decided to go for a walk into the main shops of Burra just to have a look around. We ended up going to a local pub for lunch. It was called the Commercial Hotel.
We spent the rest of the afternoon at our caravan site as we have another family camping next to us with two young children the same age as Jesse and Emily. The kids are having a really good time.
On Friday we had a quiet day. The weather was so nice we sat outside with the other family we have met. Our mail has arrived, so tomorrow we will be leaving.
The weather has been really nice the last few days, the nights are a little cold but the days are beautiful.

The picture of the truck and caravan is some people that were camped next us. This is how they are travelling around. They have given us heaps of information about travelling Australia.
