MONKEY MIA

Thursday 9th October – Thursday 16th October

We arrived at Monkey Mia today. We are staying at the Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort. It is the only place to stay here. It is a nice caravan park; we are right on to the beach. We went for a walk along the beach.

To see the dolphins feeding you need to be up and at the jetty by 7.30 am. They are there between 7.30 and 9.00 am every morning. They have three feeding sessions. You are not allowed to touch the dolphins. You are not allowed to swim with the dolphins anymore.

You can see the dolphin in the afternoon swimming up and down. They also have pelicans here that don’t seem to be scared of humans. They will come right up to you.

We hired the paddle boats on Friday morning; it was hard work though as it was windy which made it hard to paddle.

On Saturday we went for a drive into Denham today to have a look around. It is only about half an hour drive from Monkey Mia.

Jesse really loves fishing. He has been going out to the beach to fish. Some men here have shown him how to get his own bait. They use pippies as bait which they collect from the bottom of the beach.

He went out on his own to fish today without any help and caught himself two small whiting. He was so excited. He got a man in the park to show him how to gut it etc. We ended up cooking it for dinner, it was really tasty.

Jesse has been loving fishing so much, he has been going everyday. He is even getting up before 7.00am to go fishing.

It has been nice and warm which is good. It gets windy here at night time, and gets a little cool.

He has been helping the man that runs the paddle boats here, so the man let him go on the paddle boats for free for half an hour.

Sometimes when you are in the water the dolphins will swim right past you, they are not scared at all.

Emily is also enjoying here, she has made friends also. They have a pool here with a hot tub so she has been going for lots of swims in the pool and the beach.

David and I have been going for a walk most nights. Although it is not a very nice beach to walk along as it is full of shells.
