Darwin

Thursday 7th August

Today we went to the Cocodylus Park which is a Wildlife Park and Research Centre. We watched the crocodiles being feed. Jesse and Emily even had a go of feeding a croc. They have one croc that does not get fed very often as he is too fat.

Jesse and Emily also got to hold a baby croc.

Darwin

Monday 4th August

Well after 3 months on the road, today we finally made it to Darwin. We are staying at the Hidden Valley Tourist Park.

We went to the Big 4 caravan park this afternoon as our friends we said goodbye to in Katherine are staying here. We went and had dinner there and the kids swam all day and all night long.

Tuesday 5th August

Today we drove into Darwin and had a look around. We then went to the pool swimming.

The weather is just beautiful, it is 32 degrees everyday, and it cools down a little at night so you can sleep.

Corroboree Park Tavern

Sunday 3rd August - Monday 4th August

We arrived today at Corroboree Park Tavern. We are staying in the caravan park at the back. This is a very cheap park for us which is good. It has only cost us $27 for two nights.

We went for a drive along Hardies 4wd track today. Stopped to look at Mary River and we drove to Corroboree Billabong which had a very large croc on the bank.
We had to cross a creek crossing which is called Hardies Crossing. I must admit I was a little scared crossing it as crocs frequent these crossings. I said to David are you sure we have to cross this. I am glad he was driving because I would not of driven across.

We then drove to Hardies Lagoon but we could not see the lagoon through all the long grass.

We thought this 4wd track was like a big loop but it wasn't. It was going to be dark in a few hours and we had to go all the way back. We drove through Annaburroo Station which is a working cattle station.

We spend the next day at the caravan park. We had another family next to us who had three girls and the youngest was a boy and his name was Loreson. I could not believe it, just like my nephew and nieces. The kids were happy as they had other kids to play with.

Saturday 2nd August

We went to shady camp this morning to the lookout and boat ramp. At the boat ramp one side of the ramp has fresh water crocs and the other side has salt water crocs. When the tide is high they can cross over the ramp.

We saw many mullet fish trying to cross over to the other side while the tide was high. By the time we left the tide was low and you could walk across to the other side.

There was one crocodile there feeding off the fish. It was really good to watch the crocs in their own environment.

After we left there we went along another 4wd track to Point Stuart which is Finke Bay. We had to park the car and do a 5km return walk in the heat. We saw some buffalo along our walk. Once we got there the tide was out. You could not even see the water. It was all muddy and Jesse and Emily were finding lots of little crabs.

Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge

Friday 1st August

Today we arrived at Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge. We are the only caravan here so it is very quiet.

We went for a nature walk behind the park called Jimmy Creek.

We also went for a drive to Couzens Lookout, and Mistake Billabong which is along the Mary River.
We saw lots of crocs in the water and we also saw on the banks of the river a lizard which we think is called a Monitor Goanna.

Wednesday 30-31st July

Today we arrived at Jabir, we are staying here for two nights. We spent most of the day swimming.

On Thursday we wen for a drive to the border store and to look at some aboriginal art.

Jim Jim Falls and Twin Falls

Tuesday 29th July

Today we went to Jim Jim Falls. We had to drive along a sandy 4wd track. We had to do a 2km return walk to reach the falls. You can swim in the water holes here. The waterfall does not have any water during the dry season.
The swimming hole has a nice white sandy beach with very clear water.

Afterwards we went to Twin Falls. We had to take a ranger guided boat cruise followed by a bush walk to reach the falls. Unlike Jim Jim the Twin Falls has water going down the waterfalls. You are not allowed to swim in the Twin Falls as there could be crocodiles in there.

The water was crystal clear you could see some turtles, and we saw a barramundi and a baby croc.
