Wednesday 2nd July - Thursday 3 July

We arrived at Borroloola today. We had to go and buy a new spare tyre for our caravan. Our friends that we have met have also arrived so the kids are happy to have some friends to play with.

We all went out to the pub for dinner tonight. You are only allowed to buy alcohol at the pub if you order a meal. The kids found some geckos on the pub wall tonight and bought them back to the caravan park.

The weather is really nice and warm here. It is about 29 / 30 degrees everyday.
There is no pool here, so the kids have been running through the sprinklers.

Monday 30th June – Tuesday 1 July

On Monday we drove to Barkly Homestead Roadhouse. On the way we stopped at Tennat Creek to get a few things. David needed some beer, we had to wait a while as the bottle shops don't open until 2.00pm.
We are staying at Barkley Homestead Roadhouse overnight. Which is on the Barkly Hwy. It was hot so the kids got to have a swim in the pool.
The toilet facilities here are very grotty, so we are glad we are only here overnight.

Tuesday morning we left Barkley Homestead Roadhouse and are driving to Cape Crawford which is on the corner of Tablelands Hwy and Carpentaria Hwy.

On the way to Cape Crawford we could hear a noise coming from outside the car. We stopped the car and realised we had no tyre left on one of the caravan wheels. We did not even feel it. We were driving on the alloy wheel rim. It was really windy while David was changing the tyre and there was lots of those bindy prickles everywhere.

There was no where in Cape Crawford to buy a new spare wheel, so we have to wait until we get to Borroloola tomorrow.

We are staying here overnight at heading to Borroloola on Wednesday morning.

Sunday 29th June

Today we went to Devils Marbles and to the Davenport Ranges to a place called Whistle Duck Creek.

On the way to Whistle Duck Creek David drove over a snake. We had to go back to make sure it was not under our wheel. It was still lying on the road. We took some photos through the car window as it was still alive and did not look to happy. Afterwards we saw some wild horses running across the road, and a couple of donkeys.

These are termite mounds, you see lots of them along the road.

Saturday 28th June

We left Gem Tree today and are drove to Wycliffe Well. This is supposed to be the UFO capital of Australia. We did a steam train ride around the caravan park and lake.

We are staying here two nights. The weather is starting to get really nice now.

Here is a photo of Emily and her friend outside the caravan park, also a photo of our caravan site.

Friday 27th June

Today we went for a nature walk around GemTree.
They have a four hole golf course.

Jesse met a friend at Alice Springs caravan park who has a sister Emily’s age also. They arrived at Gem Tree today and are staying next to us.

Thursday 26th June

We went for a drive along a 4wd track today to the Painted Canyon. During some of the drive you are actually driving along a dry creek. The scenery kept changing along the way.

Here are some photos of the road we were travelling on.

This is us having lunch. We are parked on a dry creek bed.
