Ravensthorpe

Sunday 2nd November

We are leaving Albany today. We are going to Ravensthorpe. It is about a four hour drive. We are staying here two nights.

On the way to Ravensthorpe we hit a kangaroo. It ran across the road in front of the car, David slowed down but could not swerve to miss it. It was quite a large one. It has made a dint on the bullbar of the car.

We went for a drive to the lookout this afternoon. Nothing is open here as it is a Sunday.

Tomorrow we are going to see the wave rock.

Albany - Blow Hole

Saturday 1st November

After we left Whale World, we went for a drive along the coast and to the Blow Hole

Albany - Whale World

Saturday 1st November

Today we went to the Whale world discovery centre. Which used to be called the Cheynes Beach Whaling Station. It is were they used to catch and slaughter the whales.
It was sad to see how they used to slaughter the whales. Jesse was not enjoying it as he was getting very upset to hear how they used to kill the whales.
We watched a 3D animation, listen to some audio re enachment of the whalers activities.

We went aboard the Whale Chaser boat that was used to hunt the Whales.

They have on display a skeleton of the last sperm whale they caught.

The operation ceased in 1978.

This is the flensing deck. The flensing deck is where the whales were hauled up and stripped of their blubber. The strips of blubber and the carcass where then hauled to the upper part of
of the cutting up deck built over the cookers.

Pemberton

Tuesday 28th October

We arrived at Pemberton this afternoon

Wednesday 29th October

We went for a drive around Pemberton. We could not do too much as it rained on and off all day.

Our caravan site.
We have our awning like this so the rain would just run off it.

Cape Leeuwin in Augusta

Monday 27th October

We went for drive to Augusta to Cape Leewin. It is still very windy and cold.
In Western Australia they have lots of nice wattle trees. Most of them have finished blooming but you still see some blooming. They are all different colours and very pretty.
